Camper and Guardian Codes of Conduct

To ensure a positive experience for all students enrolled in Youth Theatre Camp, we ask that you review the Camper and Guardian Codes of Conduct before enrolling your child. If you have concerns about your camper's ability to follow these guidelines, please contact us before registering.

Camper Code of Conduct

We strive to provide a fun, safe environment where campers can explore theatre, build confidence, and develop teamwork, respect, responsibility, and empathy. To maintain this environment, all students must adhere to the following rules:

  1. Preparation: Campers must memorize their assigned lines and lyrics before camp begins and practice with the provided rehearsal tracks.

  2. Attendance: Attendance is mandatory for the entire camp. Absences due to illness will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

  3. Respect: All campers must demonstrate respect toward fellow campers and staff. This includes:

    • Listening: Campers must remain quiet and attentive when others are speaking to avoid missing instructions. Side conversations, inattentiveness, and cell phone use are not permitted. Phones must be silenced and stored away during camp.

    • Communication: Campers should use kind and respectful language and behavior at all times. Disruptive or disrespectful communication will not be tolerated.

    • Personal Space & Property: Physical contact is only permitted as directed for rehearsals, performances, or class activities. Students must respect others’ personal belongings and camp property. Any misuse or damage may result in loss of privileges.

Disciplinary Actions:

  • First Level: Verbal warning from an educator. Continued issues within a single day may result in a brief time-out from activities.

  • Second Level: A conference between the educator and guardian to address concerns and seek a resolution.

  • Third Level: If behavioral issues persist, the camper will be removed from the program without a refund.

Guardian Code of Conduct

At Orange City Arts, we believe that a successful camp experience requires collaboration between families and educators. To support this partnership, we ask guardians to adhere to the following:

  1. Uphold the Camper Code of Conduct: Campers look to their guardians for guidance. Please ensure they understand and follow camp expectations. Any guardian observing camp must also adhere to these guidelines.

  2. Attendance & Punctuality

    • Campers must attend all rehearsals and performances.

    • Drop-offs should occur no earlier than 15 minutes before camp starts.

    • Campers must arrive on time. Late arrivals disrupt rehearsals and impact the group.

    • Prompt pickup is required at the end of camp. Supervision is not available after hours.

    • In case of an emergency or illness, please notify us immediately.

  3. Camper Dress Code

    • Campers should wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing.

    • Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes (e.g., athletic or dance shoes) are required. Sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.

    • On performance day, campers must wear the required undergarments for their costumes. Without these, costumes will not be issued.

  4. Communication & Respect:

    • Check Emails Regularly: Email and group text is our primary communication methods. You may contact Amanda and Leanne through a group text or email. If you would prefer a phone call please let us know and one of us will call you.

    • Leanne: 712-360-1025; leanne.bonnecroy@gmail.com

    • Amanda: 712-441-5554; amanda.lemke17@gmail.com
      Orange City Arts 712-707-4510; info@orangecityarts.org

    • Open Camp Policy: Guardians are welcome to observe camp, provided their presence does not disrupt instruction. If an educator determines that a guardian’s presence is distracting, they may be asked to wait in a common area.

    • Respect for Educators: Educators are responsible for camp instruction and performance outcomes. Guardians may not influence role assignments or other artistic decisions. Disruptions or interference with camp instruction will not be tolerated.

Disciplinary Actions:

  • First Level: A staff member will discuss concerns with the guardian.

  • Second Level: A formal conference will be scheduled outside instructional time to address and resolve issues.

  • Third Level: If a resolution cannot be reached, the guardian may lose observation privileges. In extreme cases, a student may be withdrawn from camp due to guardian misconduct. No refunds will be issued in such cases.

I agree to adhere to the policies set forth by Orange City Arts. Additionally, I authorize that any photographic or videographic images of my child during the residency may be used for publicity purposes by Orange City Arts without further notice or compensation.
